Mineral formula: Zn2(AsO4)(OH)

Grouping: member of the Olivenite Group

Crystal system: orthorhombic

Crystal habit: variable: can be elongated, tabular or equant. Commonly forms radial aggregates, fanlike rosettes or crystalline crusts.

Cleavage: distinct/good on {101}.

Fracture: irregular / uneven, conchoidal

Color: white, clear, pale yellow, green

Luster: vitreous, sub-vitreous, waxy, greasy

Diaphaneity: transparent, translucent

Moh’s scale hardness: 3 ½

Specific gravity: 4.32 – 4.48

Named after: Gilbert Joseph Adam (1795-1881), a renowned French amateur mineralogist

Type locality: Atacama, Chile.

Geological occurrence: A secondary mineral found in zinc deposits containing arsenic-bearing minerals.
