Meteorites represent the solid remains of objects such as comets, asteroids or meteoroids that penetrated Earth’s atmosphere and survived to reach Earth’s surface. They also occur on Earth’s Moon. Compositionally, three broad groups of meteorites are commonly recognized:

- stony meteorites contain mostly silicate minerals

- iron meteorites contain mostly metallic minerals (iron-nickel)

- stony-iron meteorites contain a mix of stony and iron meteorite minerals

Research into meteorites has resulted in a more complex classification in an attempt to understand more about their origins and the origin of Earth.

Energetic properties: Many cultures have long recognized meteorites as gifts from the “other” world of the gods. They represent, and thus enhance, integration of the grounding energies of iron and solid earth with the higher vibrational levels of tektites.
