Agate Water, or “enhydro” agate is regular agate (microcrystalline quartz, or chalcedony) with one or more pockets partially filled with water. Sometimes you can see or hear the water moving inside the pocket. Agate typically occurs when silica-rich water forms crystals in layers lining a cavity in rocks, typically volcanic rocks. Sometimes the water is trapped inside the geode. Preservation of these water bubbles is rare, because even though agate nodules and geodes appear solid, they are full of microfractures and pores.
