Peridotite/dunite Kilbourne Hole Maar, Dona Ana County, NM

Found as volcanic "xenolith bombs" - shallow explosive eruption debris expelled during the volcanic erption when hot magma encountered ground water about 25,000 years ago. Derived from the Earth's mantle at depths greater than 30 km.
