If you’re into Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, this is what Indy has to say about skulls - “Deity carving. Mesoamerican. There are a number of crystal skulls in the world; I saw one in the British Museum. Interesting craftsmanship, but that's about it.” In the movie, the Soviet agents think it’s an alien power object that can be used for psychic warfare – so there’s the plot.
Could there be truly ancient crystal skulls? Sure. If there are, they aren’t in open circulation.
Could crystal skulls have been brought to Earth by alien or star nation beings? Sure. They’re not the ones for sale at the shop, but you’re welcome to buy one anyway.

Fake or Fact?
The modern history of crystal skulls is a fascinating mish-mash of opportunism and story-telling. One of the more famous is the “Mitchell-Hedges” skull. The adventurer and author FA Mitchell-Hedges and his daughter promoted the idea that the skull they “found” on a dig had supernatural powers (seems it was actually purchased at a London auction). In the first edition of his autobiography, Danger My Ally (1954) Mitchell-Hedges claimed that the object was thousands of years old and was used by Mayan priests in their rites to harm their enemies.
It seems certain that all of the crystal skulls residing in museums that were claimed to be artifacts of ancient civilizations are modern fakes, manufactured in Germany in the late 1800s into the 20th century. With the high magnification allowed by electron microscopy, the tool marks can be seen where the maker shaped the pieces, and they are typical of metal tools and high speed drills, items probably not available to ancient peoples.
Even if the crystal skulls available on the market in our day and time are modern replicas, they are still pieces requiring great craftsmanship and care. Each is handmade and unique.
Crystal skulls reflect the energy of the mineral from which they are carved, and of their shape and form. Human chakras (energy centers) in the head include the crown chakra at the top-back of the skull, and the third eye (related to the pineal gland) in the middle of the forehead. Human eyes also act like chakras, and can transmit energy like reiki. Many who work with crystal skulls use the human shape to visualize transmission of energy and/or information from the ancestors or guides in their meditations and energy work.
As with any crystal or rock specimen you want to work with energetically, it should be cleared first. After clearing, the piece is “programmed”, ie, you set your intention for working with the piece. It helps if you respect the skull as a crystal being and choose to work with it for the highest good of all, rather than tell it what to do.
For more information on working with crystal skulls, you can try the internet (although as someone once observed, “my dog can post on the internet,” so discernment may be required). The most popular books on working with crystal skulls are by Jaap van Etten and Judy Hall.
... The deposit of Shungite in Karelia was formed about 2 billion years ago and extends over 9,000 sq km ( 3,475 sq miles). The deposit has been estimated to contain more than 250 gigatonnes of carbon reserves. The deposit is found within a sequence of Palaeoproterozoic metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks - the main accumulations are concentrated in 9 layers, ranging in thickness from 5 meters (16 ft) to 120 meters (400 ft) . The sequence is dated by a gabbro intrusion, which gives a date of 1980±27 Ma, and the underlying dolomites, which give an age of 2090±70 Ma 9 and demonstrates a significant difference between shungite & petroleum/coal (200-250 Ma). ...
